2005 More Information on the extended Sparkman Family Reunion:
Hi Rod
Here are the details.
All Sparkman Decedents are welcome to come.
The decedents of Thomas Bryant Sparkman meet the third Saturday in September every year. We meet at Camp Clements just south of Sparta Tennessee. This year we have reserved the camp from 10am to 3pm on September 17th. Bring a dish and join the family. We will have some activities for the kids, wiffle ball, sack races ... We will have an open discussion about growing the event so that all age groups can enjoy family time just like we use to at our grandfather's, Lansford Sparkman.
Why Camp Clements? Ray Sparkman Ward -or his parents- granted to the State of Tennessee or the Future Farmers of America ... the land on which Camp Clement stands. The grant from the Wards would have been made, probably in the early 1930's. The deed should be on file in Spencer in the office of the Van Buren County Registrar of Deeds. We will obtain a copy this year so that we know exactly what our rights to use the camp and facilities are.
Camp Clements is located on the river where it is the border between Van Buren and White County Tennessee. At one time the land grants possessed by the Sparkmans in this area was sizable. This is also where my father use to jokingly tell the story about the federal government coming in and telling the Sparkmans that they had to spread out and quit marrying their cousins!
We are very proud of our roots and the heritage of the Sparkman Name. Come join us to make certain that the past is not lost in the future.

You have done a fantastic job with this site. The black and white picture of a family reunion was Grandma Sparkman [maiden name Patrick] and her brothers and sisters. Need to have your uncle George identify some of the people for us. I know that Grandma's brother Raz and his wife Moree are in this picture. Back row left side is George Lewis, and it is early 1960's--before George and I met in 1965!"
