Excerpts from Memoirs of Rodney Sparkman Jr.

"Mom had a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order in place which the medical personnel did not honor.  We just did not have the document in hand to present.  Therefore, the decision to release Mom from her suffering was not an easy one.  She was suffering from non-Hodgkins lymphoma and her treatment did not go well.  She was in intense pain and grief.  The family got together and created the document below, on June 15, 2007, to allow the medical personnel to remove the apparatuses that were keeping her alive.  It was a unanimous decision with signatures coming from all her children.  Despite all this, Mom continued to cling to life until June 20, 2007.  She was a strong woman even to the end."
