The occasion was the dedication of the Pecos Branch church house with the Apostle Howard W. Hunter (center) of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints circa early 1960's. Left of Apostle Hunter is Concepcíon (Concha) Acosta (Swanson) (Rodney's sister-in-law) and Aurelio Lujan Acosta (Rodney's father-in-law). (Photo courtesy of Rudy and Amelia Reyes.) Picture below: Left to right: Dad, son, Rodney Sparkman Jr., daughter, Patricia, son, Jimmy, (lower front) daughter Cynthia Ann, and wife Frances (23 Feb 1978 at Language Training Mission Provo, Utah photo courtesy of Rodney Sparkman Jr., West Bountiful, Utah). Dad was sick at this time and he said that he was really cold. It was cool that day, but you'll notice that he had a thermal vest under his coat. In addition, he didn't tell anyone about his heart condition, but you can see the pain in his face and the lack of color. He died 10 months to the day from the date of this photo (23 Dec 1978).
